Fall, If It's Not Here Yet - It Will Be!

Well, we are about to see the beginning of fall! With the return of a school year, and leaves changing colours, we know that we will have new chores starting soon.  Perhaps, you have been keeping up with your home’s regular maintenance—after all, we have spent a lot of time at home this past year and you may just have a few items to complete as the weather turns. Or maybe, circumstances have prevented you from getting to your chore list at all and your maintenance list will be lengthy. Either way, the season is about to change and it is important that you get ready for those maintenance and repair items that have to be done.

While maintenance lists may initially appear to be overwhelming, try doing the most weather dependent items first and leave the rest until you have more time.  Just don’t wait too long; the weather in the Niagara Region can be unpredictable!

After a thorough inspection of all areas of your home you will need to determine what needs attention and repair, and what does not.  Your home and property may have some unique elements – so don’t rely on a single maintenance list.  Make sure you take a really good look around.

As your home is likely your largest investment, doing your fall maintenance can help you to protect that investment as well as your comfort from the cold that will inevitably arrive with winter…or sooner!

For more difficult chores such as chimney cleaning, electrical or plumbing repairs/maintenance, if you are not licensed to do so, ensure that you hire a professional to do what is needed--accidents and injury can be prevented!

Outdoor activities, even chores, can be enjoyable.  We have been home bound for quite some time, use this opportunity to get outside and be creative in your approach to chores.  When all is done perhaps you can reward yourself with an outdoor excursion and enjoy the beauty of Niagara in autumn.  It is spectacular!
